Ethical Leadership Training

August 2 @ 9:00 am12:00 pm

The Upper Valley Coalition is conducting a second session of the introductory Ethical Leadership Training. The introductory session is prelude to two more in-depth sessions – one in September and another in October.

When and Where

The next introductory session will be held on Saturday, August 2 at the First Congregational Church in Lebanon between 9 am and noon. To register, please email resist@uvcoalition.org with your contact information, including your town and your phone number. Put “Leadership” in the subject line. There are a limited number of spots available, so please get your name in as soon as possible.

Why are we doing this?

As a resistance movement in this country, we are facing off against a minority government that is objectively powerful but very disorganized. It utilizes centralized power that demands personal loyalty to a single demagogue. The good news: it is a weak organizing principle extremely vulnerable to toppling. The bad news is there’s quite a bit of damage already occurring — and will continue — that needs an immediate response, even as we build a broad-based resistance.

The Upper Valley Coalition is engaging in immediate, active resistance, even while we participate in the coalescing regional and national movement. Resistance will bring the autocracy down at the ballot box and rebuild democratic institutions that are responsive to people’s needs and aspirations, and reject oligarchy.

We are committed to building a network of leaders to carry forward our work in every community in the region – all in coordination with other like-minded organizations. The work begins with regular people trained to organize a broad coalition that is based on interdependence, attention to everyone’s needs and built on democratic principles. If you want to make a big difference going forward, please consider joining our introductory session. Democracy is not a spectator sport.

Some comments from our first introductory session:

“I am writing to share my interest in participating in the second Ethical Leadership Training… I thoroughly enjoyed the first and would like to continue to learn and explore ways that I might be able to contribute to this community.”

“I had no idea what to expect and it was interesting, challenging and fun. Enjoyed many new people. I particularly liked that you presented a situation we had to “solve”
